As an animal lover, you really shouldn’t miss the bird of prey show in Mayrhofen, some 17 km from the hotel. At 2000 m altitude the kings of the skies are inspirational with their spectacular aerial acrobatics in front of the dreamy backdrop of the Zillertaler Alps. In the show, which lasts for around an hour, eagles, eagle owls and the like swoop down just above visitors‘ heads, while the falconer recounts interesting information about the way these birds live.
Right on Zillertal’s high Alpine road, just 500 metres from 'Das Kaltenbach', is where Murmelland starts. Here you get to see marmots up close and feed them in the petting zoo. In the playground you get to test out the slides, swings and lots of other play equipment. The little stream next to it tempts you to enjoy splashing around.
In the Achental valley, some 27 km from 'Das Kaltenbach', you will come across the biggest lake in Tyrol. Head out on a boat trip with all the family here, treat yourself to a refreshing cool-down or just lie in the sunshine and relax. A superb panorama is guaranteed here!
Around 6 km from the hotel you get to experience the natural building material, wood, with all your senses in Feuerwerk Fügen. In the SichBAR and in ‘Garten der Lüfte’ visitors will be impressed by the breath-taking views.
In Mayrhofen, around 17 km from ‘Das Kaltenbach’, you get to take a tour of the first milk and cheese street in Tyrol. Through the windows of the show dairy, you have the opportunity to take a look over the shoulder of the master cheesemaker and watch the high art of cheese making.
Brand new since 1st June 2015 is the demonstration farm at the "ErlebnisSennerei". Besides cows, sheeps and goats there are also chicken and countless bees living on the demonstration farm. For the young guests they offer also mini tractors and parcours, "Heustadl" and co.
